Im taking the “old” car all day.

I went from a 996 Turbo X50 to a 718 GT4 and I've said it plenty before, the new car is immensely capable, but it does not feel very interesting to drive unless you are going quite fast. I think the thing that pushes the 997 and earlier GT3s to the front is that you feel like you're having a special experience whether you're just putting around town, going 6-8 tenths on a back road, or really pushing the limits of the car. It's clear from driving that the newer cars have higher headroom for ultimate performance, but a weekend car should be a tingling sensory experience and an "occasion" as you say at all speeds. I can't fault someone for wanting to just go as fast as possible or want a newer Porsche if its their only car, but if you're just taking a car out once every week or less for the sake of driving, it's hard not to want a 997.2 GT3 out of these.

It's the kind of thrill I felt when riding a tractor. Internal combustion engine cars will increasingly feel this way. Even though the Kentucky Derby still draws crowds as generations change, the number of people who enjoy such things will decrease, reducing it to a peculiar hobby.

What exhaust setup is the Cayman running? That does a lot to change the character of the sound depending. Stock muffler like Matt Farah runs makes the 4.5 sound more bassy and angry vs the high pitched GT3. If you get a more aggressive muffler that crosses the exhaust paths you will get more of a high pitched wail like we are used to hearing from the GT3.

Another great comparison video! No wrong answer here as all three are excellent. But for my money and what I enjoy about driving, it is the 997 all day. I voted with my wallet since I have the 997.2 GT3 RS. It is one of the few in my collection that I would never sell.

DeMan absolutely ruins GT4 or GT3 , my personal opinion based on testing it. Just few mods (exhaust, lightweight flywheel, short gearing ) is all you need . All the owners who spend $50+k on it afraid to admit that it’s a waist of money .

991.2 GT3 with Manual is peak Porsche to me, Best engine hands down, most developed racing engine, bullet proof with 9000rpm. Still anolog and not soo small as a car that it looks odd around modern cars, and not big like 992 that it no longer fits in canyon roads

Why the mascara

I miss the days, when a new gen Mustang or Camaro came out how different they looked. Now they are almost identical. I also hate the dash on the new Mustangs. I'll be buying a GT convertible next, year, I'll stick with a 2023 or older, and save about 25 grand over the price of a new one.

I came out of a modified Audi S3 (platform twin to the Golf) to the GR Corolla (core with perf pack). No comparison. The Audi just so much better at literally everything, but the GR has a manual and is just silly fun - I wanted the silly fun that all the performance of the S3 (with 400hp) just wasn't giving me. The handling of the Gr is just totally benign no matter what you do with it and is surprisingly capable. Stock for stock these two cars are similar for handling and power, but its Sooooo easy to modify the golf for big numbers that you won't get in the GR, so stock a toss up, but modded, the Golf takes it and is a much nicer car all around.

Criminally underrated channel!

Great review of the dark horse. Bad ass stock track car! Not inexpensive though. Got to pay to have some fun. Not the car for me. Don't track a car. The magnaride suspension is the real deal. This one is upgraded on the dark horse. Just works! I have a 19 Bullitt with magnaride. I added the ford racing m 9602 m suspension kit to it. Springs, sways, and a computer flash module. Suspension magic! Other than being a heavy car, amazing handling. Way faster car than me, as a driver. I am lucky to live near some very twisty roads to push the car. A real joy to drive. Thanks for the review

I tend to think you downshift too much just for the sake of downshifting. Maybe you’d be a tad faster if you just rode the torque wave of the larger displacement engines, & left it in one gear higher. Just a thought…

You will regret selling that nsx… its the halo of halo Japanese cars. It stands alone with no competition for what it is.

Camaro SS 1LE did that and more for under 50k .... Really not impressed with the new mustang.

The second driver was going so slow and casual like he was driving on the highway as opposed to racing the car on a track. Car & Driver states that the Dark Horse is the best braking car ever tested. The guys on RUclips “Throttle House” beat the Mach I & Camaro & GT-350 on their track with the manual Dark Horse!!! Cheers‼️👍👊💪🇺🇸

Not many get the concept that form follows function. Subaru has done good here.. I own a copy. Fast drivers don't need more power, they need bigger brakes, stiffer springs, stickier tires, better driver aids, thank you Subaru!

seems like pretty consistent feedback that the steering is lacking with ford taking the s650 chassis more serious with racing and what not, the road production variants should have better steering as it’s one of the three most important inputs the driver is making
